Mission, redirect blessings

I found $50 while riding the bike! I thought of how lucky I was, until 20 minutes later riding the bike, I found another $50 on the floor! That’s quite a coincidence!  I received this as a message from life and this was my interpretation: we are given in life so many blessings, it’s our duty to put them to the service of the right causes for us. I promised I’ll use those $100 to support a cause. Later I realised how hard is to find a cause that I feel well contributing haha. One year later, we joined a bit more of money with close friends who also wanted to contribute and we all donated equipment for a musical school for kids in a small town in Colombia.  Those $100 gave me one of my happiest moments and I didn’t even spent it on my self!

My mind was very strong at the time but my body wasn’t

Sometimes we are really determined in our mind that we can fail to recognise the signs our body is giving us. No money recovers our body to the way it was after an injury or illness. It’s not worth it anyway as later we end up paying more money to fix the issue plus unproductive time resting it. Learning one’s limits is important.  Just a reminder to align body and mind for wellbeing. Sleeping well, drinking water and eating well are essential to support all the rest.

Equilibrium theory

Life gives us times of ups and downs. There is an equilibrium in everything. Today we lose $400 because of a fine, tomorrow we get $800 for an extra payment help unexpected from an institution.  Other day someone scam us with a service payment like in my case for $231 for a phone plan. Later we get $256 by luck in a one time ever playing in a money machine at the pokies. This month we work in a hard job getting peor not well with a lot of effort, later we get an easy job getting paid very well, etc… PATIENCE. Life is about keeping our internal balance being aware that sometimes we get more or less than what we deserve, and that’s okay, it’s expected. The important part is to be loyal to ourselves, our way of seeing the world as a balance place, and the path to success in our own style. The rewards come in money, experiences, health, relationships.

Meeting who I was

Organising the pictures from the last 8 years reminds me of who I was, what I cared about, what was important and got forgotten. It’s a great exercise to have a conversation with our previous self. We are definitely different year by year. The experiences and life continúe to shape us.  Good also to remember our dreams and passions.

Nos queda lo “bailado”

¿Trabajar, ahorrar, invertir, fortalecer finanzas y repetir?

People’s money is people’s feedback

That’s the way to know if what we create is actually valued.  I find it difficult to price a service that I enjoy and feel happy to give for free, the problem is that people don’t value free things.  Having a great service that has the power to change lives for good requires the leverage of money to grow and be recognised as valuable. Sergio. Learning how to price for what we have to offer.

How to have uncomfortable conversations?

0) Let the other person know we want to discuss something that is important for us (asking for permission or scheduling a time for it, it’s better if the other person knows and agrees to have the conversation, they will be open for it and curious from the beginning, rather than closed). 1) Express how we lived the experience from our own point of view providing a context for it and why what happened represents something important for us. (The other person most likely is not aware of all of that we are saying so it’s very important to generate empathy by explaining it well from our point of view).  1.2) Have pen and paper (it always helps me to be able to draw and write the main points, also to avoid excessive eye contact since it can be uncomfortable for both parts). 2) Avoid attacking the other person with hard comments or hard questions to answer (this will make the person be in a defensive mode, if this happens, at the end there will be a feeling of discussion or fight, rather t...

What’s your talent? Your gift?

Some people leave this world without ever knowing what was their talent, gift or mission.  We all have a talent, it is our duty to identify it, develop it and put it at the service of others.

Dreaming small sucks

Learning how to be contented with what one has, while also not conforming with dreaming small. It seems like a hard thing to do. How can one dream big and at the same time feel content with what one already has? It feels like a contradiction, I’m very pleased to have been exploring the feeling of contentment and gratitude with what I have so far. However, this seems to get in the way when trying to think big. Is that true? Can we feel contented and at the same time aiming big?  In any case, dreaming small sucks! It robs us of inspiration and motivation. What’s your wildest dream / aspiration?

Me tomó 7 años solo para definir la dirección

I will be a high well paid coach. It took me 7 years to define my path, and sure enough it will evolve in time. “No hay que llegar primero. Hay que saber llegar”. “A whole life being first, just to realise later it was the wrong race”.  It’s worth the time and effort to find out our true direction. 7 años para que por fin sienta que tengo idea de lo que quiero ser, y ser lo suficientemente valiente para intentarlo.  I will be a high well paid coach, people will find value in my work and it will be positive life changing for my clients. Am I brave enough to follow my passion and purpose? My barriers:  - Feeling embarrassed since most people won’t care about it, and some might even not like it. - My difficulty to admit and search for expert coaches help  - Financial pressures  - Lack of time - Fear to look like a failure once putting more work into it - Divided focus since there are more things I wish to pursue at the same time My advantage:  - My beloved one...

What does success really look like?

I believe that’s different depending on the stage of life where we are in. It is deeply influenced by our surroundings, upbringing and family. Often times when we finally achieve what we wanted so badly we realise there is some new sense of emptiness, so what really success look like then? During high school and the University, success meant going to a top university, being ahead of everybody else and achieving finding a well paid job, buying a house, and to everybody’s eyes, that person was successful.  I did that. The top University, the engineering, not the job I skipped that, the living overseas, the buying a property and working very hard. Once that was done, it felt good, but what really means success in life? I did all of that to achieve recognition and status.  Now I believe I have a new better idea of what success look like, however, I now encounter a new challenge, the drive to do everything it takes is not there. New fears and self limitations have been strengthenin...

Slow progress in the right direction is still good progress

Small actions in pursuit of what we truly aspire are still good progress.

Standing Up For Yourself 🙋

Communicating in an assertive way when something doesn’t feel right, or not correct. Because it will happen again.  It is brave and takes guts to do it. But it’s the right way. Lesson to self: “Stand up for yourself and communicate it in an assertive way”. I actually struggle with this, hopefully I can continue to do more progress now that I’m more aware of it. Sometimes other people might not even know something is actually bothering us, and the only way is to be firm and communicate our thoughts.

A view on friendships in the age of social media

I recently realised a friend of mine thought she was being a good enough friend by providing me with likes and occasional comments in my posts/ stories of Instagram.  While I appreciate that, it doesn’t replace at all what a call every now and then could do. Sharing more personal things and updating each other.  Note to self: Watch out on believing relationships will take care of itself through social media just by posting, watching  and commenting to stories others’ stories. We definitely have a need for connection which goes beyond. We ought to put the effort if we really want to develop quality friendships. Meeting, calling, writing a personalised message, asking for questions, listening and sharing.  Being more clear and intentional about friendships might be not a bad idea since relationships are often indicated as the main factor of lasting happiness. Sergio. On the art of strengthening quality friendships.

How much should I worry about money/income?

I once heard someone saying “we were so poor at the time that all we had was money in the account” 😂 Some people chase money so badly that after achieving everything in record time, they realised they have forgotten just about everything else. This confirmed my previous supposition that after certain level of income we should focus on other areas of life so we can succeed at what life really is about. And what is that?  This is a short and not comprehensive list: focusing on how to have healthier habits everyday that support wellbeing, improve our relationships (with partner, family friends, be part of a group or community), improve our relationship with ourselves (this is the self talk and what we say to ourselves in our mind everyday, many would be surprised at how hard we treat ourselves), break limiting beliefs, do more of what we like and enjoy, finding a purpose or meaning in that, helping more in the community and beloved ones, being a good son, daughter, brother, sister, d...

What are your favourite feelings?

My favourite feelings are when I feel inspired so my mind is free to imagine and create. Also when I can help people, that’s an amazing feeling to help someone.  What are your favourite feelings? When you do what? Sergio. Back in Australia after holidays writing about my intentions for this 2025.

Cuánto tiempo para alcanzar la felicidad?

Nos tardamos mucho tiempo buscando esa soñada felicidad, para darnos cuenta que se encuentra en aprender a apreciar lo que ya tenemos. Sergio.

The hardest thing of this year

I think the hardest thing I did this year was to allow myself to cry, and in front of someone else.  Some things that seem just natural for many people, but so hard for others. And how liberating at the same time.  I didn’t learn how to cry, or maybe I forgot, so I’m learning now, and finally realising about its healing power.  I thought I was being though and strong, but in many cases I now understand I was just missing out on the magic of crying and letting the emotions out.  It’s not an easy thing, it took me a while and still learning.
